Laser Hair Removal,Why Should You Consider Doing It

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Ivar Rudi Do you feel that the hair on your neck, on your shoulder, or by your ears is standing out a bit too much? If you feel that the hair on your upper lip just shouldnt be there, then you should turn to laser hair removal to get real results for skin results that are going to be just what you are looking for. Laser hair removal is a method of treatment for men and women alike who just dont want to put up with shaving any more, or seeing that hair grow where it shouldnt be growing at all. Laser hair removal is not something just for the rich and famous but a procedure that is being done to help millions of people that are having a hard time controlling the hair on their body. Permanent hair reduction is what the term laser hair removal is all about. Removing hair from the body, in areas where you are never going to want it to grow again, that is what hair removal lasers are going to do. There is limited data on how well this actually works with success for all users, and all who under go the process, but the results on those who are talking about the procedure are definitely happy with their results. How is laser hair removal really done? It is a light; the laser is a light that is aimed at the locations where you dont want hair to grow again. The repeated light on this area is going to reduce the hair growth. Permanent hair reduction may not be total hair loss in that area for all people, but it will reduce the unsightly hair that many people experience on their back, in their ears, around the mouth and on the chest. Hair removal procedures do not have to be done in the hospital; there are many clinics and doctors that are providing the service in offices around the world. The hair removal system is one that is done with a hand held device that is targeting the hair on the skin. The light, the laser, is going to damage the hair follicles, and it going to stop growth of the hair. There is going to be some hair that will continue to grow, but with additional laser treatments, that hair too shall not grow back again. What are the advantages to having laser hair removal procedures done? You will find that reduction in hair on those areas where you dont want hair to grow will be a good feeling. The procedure does not hurt, and does not have long lasting painful effects. The entire laser hair removal process is one that is considered to be safe when done by the properly trained doctors and their staff. No one is going to know you have had this done, the laser treatment unless you tell him or her! You can do this laser hair removal on the back, on your legs, or even on small areas of the body where you dont like to shave or dont want to have to shave all the time. Copyright 2006 - Ivar Rudi. Make Your Own Brine and Enjoy Healthy Sunflower Seeds

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By William Berg Sunflower seeds contain large amounts of healthy fat acids and can be enjoyed fresh or used in bread and dishes. They are very popular in candy in deserts and many sunflower lovers make their own brine to spice up the taste of the sunflower seed. Creating your own brine is easy if you follow the simple steps outlined below. The first humans that enjoyed tasty sunflower seeds were the Native Americans. They even used them to cook and bake cakes; sunflower seeds were grounded into a nutritious flour that could be used for a wide range of dishes. If you want to try making your own sunflower seed brine you should begin by washing the seeds. Place your sunflower seeds in a large bowl filled with cold water and stir them around until dirt accumulate at the bottom of the bowl and any dust particles float up to the surface. If you prefer sunflower seeds without shells, you dont have to make any brine. The brine is only a way to add taste to sunflowers without having to remove the shells. With shell-less sunflower seeds, you can simply add salt and spices directly to the sunflower seeds. If you coat the shell-less seeds with cooking spray or vegetable oil, salt and spices will stick better to the kernels. Sunflower oil is of course a good choice here. The next step is to roast your sunflower seeds. This is not mandatory, but roasted seeds can be stored much longer than fresh ones. If you plan to eat your seeds soon, you can skip this stage. The easiest way of roasting sunflower seeds is to spread them out on a plate in a single layer. Heat to oven to approximately 275 degrees Celsius and place the plate in the oven. After roughly 10 minutes the seeds will be finished. It is important to keep an eye on the seeds since they can turn dark rapidly if left to long in the oven. When you have let the sunflower seed cooled down they are ready to be immersed in seed brine. The brine described below is suitable for roasted sunflower seeds as well as non-roasted ones. This basic recipe will create moderately salted sunflower seeds and you can easily add your own spices to the brine to create your own favourite sunflower seeds. Begin by filling a bowl with around 1 litre of water and 2 dl salt (any type of salt will do, you wont need any special type of salt). Stir the mix gently until the salt has dissolved. Place the sunflower seeds in the brine and let them soak for at least 12 hours. Lift up the seeds from the salt brine and let them dry thoroughly. Proper drying is extra important if you plan to store your sunflower seeds. Once the seeds are dry, the can be eaten or stored. If you store your sunflower seeds in a dry place where the temperature is not too high, they will keep their nice taste for months. Great Relationships: How to Solve Problems and Have Fun Too

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

By Jeff Herring I recently came across this quote: “There is a time in the life of every problem when it is big enough to notice and small enough to solve.” When problems come in our relationships they can bring a great deal of stress into our lives. While problems do bring stress and are important to properly handle, our response to the problem is more important than the problem itself. How stressful a problem is can be determined to a large extent by our response to it. Many of us have learned avoidance as a way of handling problems. “If I just ignore this, maybe it will go away” is what we think. If you hear an alarming noise in your car, just turn up the radio. No noise, no problem. Richard Bach, author of “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” and “Illusions,” has this to say about problems: “There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in its hands. We seek problems because we need their gifts.” What would it be like if, instead of avoiding problems, we were to lean into them and seek their gifts? In order to lean into problems, we have to approach them in a different way. As Albert Einstein said, “You cannot solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created the problem.” We need creative problem-solving skills that allow us to not only learn from the problem, but have fun and strengthen us as well. Here are three creative ways to approach problems. Movie solutions Often the difficulty is that we have only our view of the problem with which to work. So what would it be like to get a variety of different perspectives on the solution to the problem? Here’s a simple three-step process for getting a different perspective. Hold a problem in your imagination for a moment. Think of a favorite character or a movie you have seen that you strongly related to. Ask the question, “How would this person have approached and solved this problem?” You may get solutions from this exercise or only a different way to look at the problem. Either way is a win. Use your own judgment about the appropriateness of the solutions. Question solutions Motivational expert Tony Robbins offers us five questions for approaching problem-solving in a different way. They serve to help us reframe our approach to the problem. The five questions are: What’s good or great about this situation? What’s not perfect yet? What am I willing to do to solve this problem? What am I no longer willing to do to solve this problem? What actions can I take that will help me solve the problem and enjoy the process? Crazy solutions Lastly, let’s look at a process that I typically use to help parents solve power struggles with their teenagers. It’s applicable for our purposes as well. Here are the six easy steps. Identify the problem. Identify one or two solutions that you have tried that just don’t seem to work, and then discard them. Come up with crazy, ridiculous, absurd, outlandish solutions that you would never do, but are absolutely fun to think about. Come up with creative alternative solutions to the problem. Sometimes the seed for these creative ideas are in the crazy ideas. Other times you have simply been able to step back far enough from the problem to be creative. Once you have your creative solutions, take massive action toward solving the problem. Pay attention to the results you are getting. If it’s working, you can keep doing it if necessary. If it’s not working, repeat steps three to five until you get a solution that works. What we have looked at are three simple approaches to creative problem-solving. Have fun trying them out in your own life. 10 Weight Loss Busters You Shouldn’t Eat

Monday, January 28th, 2008

By Eva Moffat 1. Fried Foods That Are Frightening 2. Steakhouse Stories That Scare3 Manufacturers Mislead Many 4. Burgers That Are Bigger and Biggest 5. Awful Appetisers 6. Cakes and Cookies That Are Calorie Clogged 7. Diet Drinks That Deceive 8. High Calorie Horrors 9. Diet Disasters When Dining Out 10. Super Sized Servings That Sabotage Your Diet 1. Fried Foods That Are Frightening Deep fried foods are nutritionally bad for you. If you enjoy going to fairs and carnivals, you may well be tempted to eat the strangest of concoctions. It’s amazing just what has been thrown into the deep fryer in the name of creativity. But the only thing you are going to create is havoc with your weight loss diet. 2. Steakhouse Stories That Scare Your local neighbourhood restaurant or steakhouse may be a Nutritional Nightmare. Fried onions that are considered a Starter Dish are so full of Calories, Fat, Saturated Fat and with a high Salt content. And to go from bad to worse, the onions are usually served with a sauce that has even more Calories, Fat and Salt. For the sake of your health, be sure you know your onions. 3. Manufacturers Mislead Many Foods that are often labeled as healthy are just the opposite. Marion Nestle PhD, MPH a New York University Nutritional Professor in her book What To Eat,’ talks of Fruit Snacks’ that have absolutely no fruit in them but were just laden with sugar. Don’t believe the adverts, read the labels carefully then decide for yourself if it’s right for you. 4. Burgers That Are Bigger and Biggest Burgers are getting bigger and bigger. Burger King and others are taking a bun and piling on as many as four burgers, plus slices of cheese and strips of bacon. Just one of these burgers will give you more Calories than you should eat if having three meals a day. If you really do want a burger, try ordering a plain burger. It could be served with a sauce, but it should be on the side not on top. That will save you eating more Calories than you need. 5. Awful Appetisers How about a Fundido as a snack before the main meal? A Fundido is made up of a combination of cheese, pepperoni, bacon and sausage served with bread sticks. If you are on a weight loss diet, a Fundido is a nutritional no-no. 6. Cakes and Cookies That Are Calorie Clogged You are tempted to have a square of Starbucks Old Fashioned Crumb Cake to go with your coffee but that little square has 670 Calories in it. And a piece of Cheesecake has enough Calories in it to make a mess of your weight loss diet, but the Cheesecake Factory adds Chocolate Candy, Mousse etc. Nice for a treat once a year, but for the rest of the year DON’T. 7. Diet Drinks That Deceive High Calorie drinks are so deceptive. They don’t need chewing and go down real easy and they don’t fill you up. So how can this innocent looking cup of coffee be loaded with 490 580 Calories? It could be the chocolate or cream that is added. To avoid piling on the Calories, order a small size cup of coffee with low fat milk and sweeteners. 8. High Calorie Horrors When you are out shopping at the Mall you may be tempted by the delicious aromas of coffees, spicy pies and the mouth watering smell of freshly made doughnuts. But giving in to temptation could mean you may consume a day’s worth of Calories in one delicious but none essential piece of confectionery. Ok I’m being a spoil sport but, for the sake of your health and weight loss diet, you would be better to take along a snack of crackers and nuts or raw veggies. Enjoy. 9. Diet Disasters When Dining Out Two decades ago, dining out was already beginning to be a disaster for the person who was on a weight loss diet. The menu offered high Calorie foods. Things haven’t improved over the years; in fact they have become worse. On the menu in restaurants are such things as fried macaroni and cheese and cheese fries. Just oozing with fat and packed with Calories. In order to keep to your diet change into a fluffy bunny rabbit and talk yourself into eating and enjoying salads. 10. Super Sized Servings That Sabotage Your Diet Have you noticed how it’s not just fast food meals that have got bigger? So have bagels, pasta servings, salads and sandwiches. If you go out to a restaurant for a meal, most of the meals on the menu are going to be around 1 000 Calories. The question to ask yourself is, do I really need this food? As Michelle May MD, author of Am I Hungry?’ and What To Do When Diets Don’t Work’ said, that Once a person indulges in a decadent dessert or monster burger, it triggers the I’ve already blown my diet, so why bother,’ mentality. Beyond that, May believes, the real horror may be the American mind set about food. We were raised to clean the plate, so we could be rewarded with a dessert, which further enhances our desire to eat sweets and meals without recognition of fullness,’ she says. If you want to keep to your weight loss diet, learn what foods are best for you and avoid the ones that sabotage it. The Whistleblower Protection Law

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

By James Monahan It was not until 1986 when a law protecting whistleblowers is made. Congress added an anti-retaliation protection to the then existing False Claims Act. A whistleblower is a person who tells on something he believes is an illegal act. The employees are the most commonly known whistleblower. They tell on their employers which they suspect is doing or committing an illegal act. Under the Whistleblower Protection Law, the employee should not be discharged, denoted, suspended, threatened or harassed in any form that discriminates the terms and conditions of his employment because of the legal act done by the employee. The employee may be of aid in many ways possible on the investigation, testimony and the likes. However there are some constraints under the whistleblower protection law. Reporting illegal acts that are only within the company is a ground for exemption. But still there may be public policies that could protect the employee from retaliation If it turns out that an employer didn’t actually break a law, the employee is still entitled to whistle blower protection from retaliation, if he reasonably believed that the employer committed an illegal act. The whistleblower protection law does not cover employer retaliation for complaints about personal loathe. Office politics is not to be used as a basis for filing a complaint against the employer and use the whistleblower protection for personal gain. In order for the employee to be protected from employer retaliation, he may the have a suspected desecration of any Federal Law. But the supposed violation should have provisions that the law violated will protect whistleblowers. The Whistleblower Federal Law, unlike the False Claims Act, allows the whistleblower to file a lawsuit in a federal court. The Federal Whistleblower Law does not permit the whistleblower to go directly to the court. The individuals concerned are pursued administratively. These individuals concerned could file a complaint or charge to retaliate with or without a lawyer to represent them. However if the case is not resolved immediately, the administrative law judge may then preside over the only evidentiary hearing that may take place. A whistleblower should not attempt to delay an investigation of the possible legal remedy. To maintain this ruling, the retaliation should then be brought to the attention of an appropriate government official within 30 days, else the complaint could not be pursued. Most states have some sort of statutory or common law “whistleblower” or anti-retaliation laws. Like the federal whistleblower laws, not every lawyer will know about these laws, especially laws outside their own state. These states and the District of Columbia have recognized a public policy exception to the “employment at will doctrine”: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Some states have explicit statutory protections for whistleblowers. These include: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Washington. There are also state laws that offer special protections just for their own state or local government employees: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Tree Planting - More than Just Digging a Hole in the Ground

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By Matt Adler Preparation of the plant location can be one of the most important steps in ensuring a long and healthy life for the plant. There is more to it than just digging a hole and setting the plant in it. Manually place the plant in the yard exactly where you want it. If planting multiple plants, place them in their respective spots in the yard to get a feel for how it will look. It is important to leave adequate spacing between plants, to make sure they do not crowd one another, either above or below ground. With the plant sitting where you want it, carve a circular hole around the rootball with a shovel, so that the hole will be between two and three times the width of the bucket. Once the the circle has been carved, move the plant to the side, and dig the hole to 1.5 times the depth of the rootball. Amending the soil is extremely important for the life of the plant. It is best to mix the native soil you have dug with 1/3 soil conditioner and 1/3 manure or compost, with 1/3 of the native soil. We personally recommend mushroom compost as it is more pleasant to deal with than manure. Back fill the hole with your new soil mixture so that when you remove the bucket or bag from the plant, the rootball will sit about 2-3″ above the ground level. This is done so that when the plant is watered, the rootball will not settle too deeply. It is important that the top of the rootball sit slightly above ground level. Remove any materials from the plant, and set it into the hole. Continue filling the extra space around the hole with your new soil mixture. Lightly step around the plant to remove any air pockets from the soil. Water the rootball well. Adding a protective layer of landscape fabric around the plant is an inexpensive and helpful way to prevent grass or weeds from growing around the plant. Taking the time to add this step will help keep the focus of your landscape design on the plant, and not on pesky weeds. Place mulch or pine straw around the new plant. Use approximately 3″ of mulch on the ground to optimize moisture around the plant. It is very important not to place the mulch against the stem or trunk of the new plant! It needs room to breath!! Congratulations, you’ve just planted your first plant, and are on your way to enjoying it for many years to come! Diets for Weight Loss

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Jean Lam After the Christmas and New Years holidays, it seems that most people return from their resting places with a few more pounds on, and who am I to judge them? If I myself ate to the verge of exploding, and drank as if every single beverage was running out. It is perfectly understandable why people gain some weight during these days, however it is also perfectly understandable that people want to lose those very pounds by the time the New Year has begun, I mean, that is why the New Years resolutions are for right? You will notice that most of the people that actually wrote their New Year Resolution wrote this line: To lose some weight before summer. Why? Because they are probably planning to attend the beach, and every single person alive wants to look great in a bathing suit. This is where those popular and famous diets for weight loss come into action; there are many eating routines which claim to make you lose dozens of pounds just by eating whatever you want, but if that was the case, everyone would be perfectly fit, dont you agree? The truth behind diets for weight loss is that they consist of a perfectly balanced intake of nutrients, which is why they claim that you can eat whatever it is that you want, given that you do not consume more than you should (which sometimes may be just a small bite). Diets for weight loss are not poorly developed, at least not all of them, however if you are truly aiming to reach your weight loss goal, then you should compliment that weight loss diet with an exercise routine that may allow you to burn the excessive amount of fat that you have been holding in your body for the last few months or years. People who watch and manage what they eat, are not only benefited by the weight loss bonuses, they are also benefited from a healthier kind of life, and a lower risk of heart problems. Here is what you should do when following a weight loss procedure: First of all you will need to keep those calories under control, no more than 1000 per day, and you will also need to practice an exercise routine; run until you get tired, then walk, once you recover start running again and repeat the process for 1 hour or 2, this is called a cardiovascular exercise routine, and it is the fastest method for burning fat. The Turbulence of Depression

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

By Dr Bob Wilkerson I hate the turbulence created by depressive thoughts. Depression, yuck, lets change the word depression to something more pleasant to the ear. Can we make up a new word for feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, and restlessness that come with depression? What could we call it? Anyone got an idea. However, regardless what we call these feelings they will still create turbulence in our mind and ultimately in our life. Worse than the feelings of depression is the conversations in our mind, self talk, regarding who we are, what are situation in life is, and hope for our future. Listen to this conversation between Satan and self. Remember Satan is the father of all lies and in most cases, depression is related to the lies we tell ourselves. You are so worthless. Satan says with a chuckle. You know I am worthless. Self replies. You situation will never change, Satans voice says. I should have done things differently. How could I have been so stupid? I must be worthless to behave like that. Self agrees with the lies of Satan. Your future is absolutely hopeless. Satan says with a grin. You know what my future is hopeless. Oh my God, I have no hope. Self agrees. The conversations we have with ourselves can determine to a large degree what we feel. If we can change what we think, we can change how we feel. If we can change how we think and feel, we have a great chance of changing how we act. Of course, not all depression can be changed by just changing our thoughts but in all cases, it can help. Normally three morbid thoughts (lies) accompany depressive feelings and behavior. 1. We tell ourselves we are worthless. We are bad people and deserve to be punished. This statement isnt true. God loves you and you are special in the eyes of God. Say that to yourself repeatedly, until it sinks deep into the inner resources of your mind. I am special in my Fathers eyes and so are you. In regards to the punishment issue remember Jesus took all our punishment on the cross. We are clean in Gods eyes and we certainly dont deserve punishment. 2. Our situation is horrible. I cannot stand to live like this anymore. I dont know what your situation is but I no it isnt horrible. The holocaust was horrible. Being burnt at the stake is horrible. I might not like what is happening at the moment but sure doesnt rank at the same level as being eaten alive by ants. It might be extremely unpleasant but not horrible. In addition, believe me, you can stand it. You might not like it but you can get through it with Gods help. 3. The future is hopeless. Who says the future is hopeless? Who is telling you this lie? Satan wants to destroy your hope in the future because he knows your future is bright. Satan wants to create turbulence in your life because you are less affective for Christ when you are in a state of turbulence. The truth is, if you are in Christ, you future is bright. There is hope in this life and in the one to come. We have a promise of eternal life and life more abundant right here on planet earth. I know these answers to depression might sound too simple. Yet, for me it works. I have known depression. Oh, yes I have known depression. I was a cutter. A cutter is a self-mutilator. I cut myself. I hurt myself for many reasons, which I do not care to write about at this time. My point is I know depression. I lived in it for years. Today, when I start to slip into depression I fight back. I wish I could become free, from depression but I cannot. I still suffer from the turbulence, at times. However, I have learned how to do combat with Satan and my thoughts. I am sure God loves me and I love me. I even love others to some extent. If you are suffering from depression, try to change what you think. It is ok to call someone and ask for help. If you need professional help dont hesitate to make a phone call. If you are suicidal call 911 now. I promise life will get better but you have to take some action. Save the Date Magnets as Wedding Engagement Party Favors

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

By Raymond Miller He asked you to marry him and now you are throwing an engagement party to announce the wonderful news to your family and friends. To celebrate this exciting occasion you want to give your guests a small favor in appreciation for their participation. Most likely, your closest family members and friends will be invited to your engagement party. While you have everyone in the same room you can also announce your wedding date with personalized save the date magnets. Save the Date magnets are a great engagement party favor for couples who have already decided on their wedding date. They serve a dual purpose of presenting your guests a keepsake to remember this special occasion and to remind them of your upcoming wedding day when they place their magnet favor on their refrigerator or on a filing cabinet in their office. If your engagement party is a formal affair, you might place a small thank you card containing a fun magnet reminder at each table place setting. To build the suspense, ask your guests not to open their thank you cards until a designated time during your party like after a prepared speech or toast. Maybe you have decided to give each guest a small gift bag filled with a few homemade goodies or thank you favors to show your gratitude for their attendance. Slip a save the date card and magnet into each bag as well for an added surprise. If you decide to use Save the Date magnets as favors for your engagement party, be sure to order enough magnets to mail to family and friends that are unable to attend and for those you will add to your guest list as your wedding day draws near. My Wedding Reception Ideas offers wedding couples ideas and products for personalized wedding favors including save the date magnets and wedding gift bags.
