Things To Be Careful About When Buying A Used Cellular Phone

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dane_J_Stanton]Dane J Stanton As technology grows at an exponential rate, cell phones are constantly being outdated and replaced with new more advanced models. In fact when you think about it there’s always a new cell phone every month that you haven’t heard about. So the question is, do you really need a brand new high tech cell phone? The answer is whatever you want it to be, however if you know you won’t use all the features and gadgets on all the new cell phones today, then you’re better off buying a used cellular phone There are of course things you must be aware of when purchasing used cellular phones and they include everything from possible battery problems to not being able to unlock the phone because it was in fact stolen. Usually when a cell phone is stolen, the owner will call up their service provider and ask them to cancel or change their account. What then happens is the phone that was stolen will be locked and no one will be able to use it again. Here are the things you have to look out for most when buying a used cellular phone… Caution Number 1 Check to see who the owner is. If you are buying the used cellular phone off a complete stranger, which is usually the case, ask the when and where they bought the phone from. Then ask them if they can show you the documents that came with the phone. If they can’t provide these documents then don’t purchase the phone because chances are it was stolen. If fact you are better off not buying a used cellular phone from a complete stranger at all, but if you do, get their details, including phone number, address and where they work. That way if you find out the phone is stolen later, you can always send the police after them and get your money back. Caution Number 2 Does the phone work properly? This means, how long does the battery last for? Does the screen work properly and if there are other features like a camera for example, do they work? Make sure you test the used cellular phone out before you buy it. Ask the owner if you can hold onto it for a day to see how long the battery lasts for. Chances are if they won’t let you test it out, there must be some kind of complication associated with it. Caution Number 3 With the high cost of cellular phones today, there is definitely a possibility that the used cellular phone that you are considering was in fact stolen. Often thieves will steal someones phone, wipe the memory, or re-furbish it, and sell it to an unsuspecting victim. Or, sometimes they steal the phones directly from the manufacturer, making the overall cost of the cellular phones that much higher because of the cost of recovery. Basically, the old idea is still true, even for a modern cellular phone. If the deal is too good to be true, be wary. Of course buying a used cellular phone is a great way to save money, especially if you are one of those people who just likes to use a phone as a phone and not as a camera of music player. Essentially you’re going to save yourself a heap of money. How to Tell If Online Consultations Are Right For You

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Whozylee_Aris] Whozylee Aris As computers, Internet and technology have become increasingly more available and accepted, so have the applications for using them. Online consultations are something that is becoming more widely used by both medical professionals and those seeking medical advice. But how do you know if online medical consultations are right for you? There are some things to consider before you decide to try out online consultations. The first thing you should consider is the complexity and severity of the medical condition you are hoping to ask about. If you have a complicated medical history and are under a physician’s care for one or more serious illnesses or diseases, you should probably stay in touch with your doctor about new problems. If this is the case, online consultations are probably not a good idea for you. Your personal physician is in tune with your medical issues and has your history at his fingertips. Online medical consultations rely on the information you provide and those medical professionals - while probably highly competent - aren’t likely to be able to deal with complex medical histories. There are lots of cases in which the illnesses are only bothersome and finding a source of online medical consultations is a great way to deal with the problem without the expense and time needed to visit your personal physician. In some cases, you may be alerted to ways of dealing with minor medical issues with only over-the-counter medications or even items that are probably already in your medicine cabinet. You can get general online consultations that will help you decide whether a trip to the doctor is warranted or if you can probably get past the problem on your own. With the wide array of medications that were once prescription-only but are now available over-the-counter, the odds are good that online medical consultations will include suggestions for medicines you can purchase that might help the symptoms. Remember to alert the person performing the online consultation to any medications you are currently taking so that they can consider drug interactions. If you are on an extensive medical regimen, you should probably avoid online consultations and work directly with your personal doctor. So does that mean that online consultations aren’t ever worth looking into if you have a serious condition? Not at all. There are dozens of websites that have incredible resources for those facing specific health issues. If you’re dealing with diabetes, heart disease, herpes, various forms of cancer or other specific illnesses, you’ll find online sources of information that include online medical consultations. These online consultants typically are knowledgeable about the specifics of these diseases and can offer quality advice. Is it Time to Rewrite the Holy Books? (2)

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Elaine Sihera For years afterwards I pondered on what kind of religion thrives on perpetual, personal unhappiness for its gratification. What kind of godliness seeks merely to cause pain and anguish when one’s time on earth is so short? What kind of worship concentrates only on the negative and nasty things of life so that confessions of sins take precedence over confessions of goodness? What kind of god prefers someone living in a hell of a marriage, or in ’sin’, and depriving themselves of love and affection in preference to starting all over again with a new partner in mutual blessing and spiritual joy? What god indeed prevents females from developing themselves to the fullest, condemning them to a life of inequality? Could it be the same one found in the holy books which were written by men, for a male dominated society, to fuel the power of men, while deliberately repressing the development of women to avoid any competition, and deny them their rights to ensure the continuity of unchallenged male power and control? The Bible is God’s word, I am frequently told. But who guaranteed it to be so? How do we really know? It was truly inspired writing, that is certain, by people who felt a deep need to shout their feelings to the world - and we are told they had the benefit of God actually walking among them! But as it has mainly been based on word of mouth, no one in our age can ever say for sure. And if we live by what the Bible says to the letter, to the exclusion of all else, not only would we still be doing some pretty violent things to our fellowmen, but could we also not be missing the inspiration of our own prophets in our own age? Which age has a monopoly on a direct link to God? How do we know that new prophets and disciples are not being nurtured now? In fact, could we have stopped listening to God because we have become so enmeshed in our own arrogant web of self-sufficiency and the straitjacket of self-righteousness and outdated beliefs, we are far removed from what God might want of us? The Bible is etched on my memory to such an extent, having been immersed in it at an impressionable stage in my life, that whole passages - beautiful ones about charity and love, and nasty ones about brimstone fire float about regularly. I also remember every book in the Bible since my rote learning over 40 years ago! Yet I cannot identify with it in any way. As I do love God, I am constantly plagued by what sort of god not only looks like one race of people, carefully matching each ethnic group, but only mentions those of one colour in His special book, making me, and millions like me, non-existent, especially if he is responsible for all of us, we are made in his image and likeness and he loves us all equally! What sort of god punishes the faithful while those who couldn’t care less hardly seems to be punished at all? Preserving and Maintaining Control There is no doubt that Christian ideals are under seige, especially with the gay and women’s issues, because there are too many anomalies in their execution. But that is the problem with any unchanging and inflexible religion which is created and dominated by one group or one gender in society. It reflects only their likenesses and belief, tolerating no examination or criticisms. Interpretations tend to be dogmatic, insular, being favourable only to the interpreters, in order to preserve and maintain their control of God’s word. Years from my childhood, human beings are still not allowed to be fallible, to enjoy their life as given, otherwise they will be punished severely and forever. We must be perfect beings in God’s sight, there being little godly love available for any defaulter. Yet, if all God wants are people to punish, then it can’t be the same God I worship. I am a very spiritual person and I have always felt close to my God, guided and blessed by Him daily in my life. Regardless of my actions I have never felt that I would be punished. As long as I am not offending anyone, I have never felt that I have sinned. Maybe this is because my God is one who values everyone, regardless of gender, or race, sexuality or attitude, strength or weakness. Being naturally superior, he does not need to punish us weaklings for using the assets and brains He gave us! In fact, I have always felt there would be forgiveness, love and patience - and not in another life either, but right here and now! I have been so loved and protected throughout my life, it is difficult to explain this to a non-believer and I have not even encouraged my children to share it. If they do not understand my feelings, they would only pay lip service to please me. They have to discover it for themselves too. My gradual change in life pattern, emphasising how I treat my fellowmen here on earth, with respect, care and value, seems light years away from the constant guilt and hopelessness I felt as a youngster when blind acceptance of vows made when I was too young set me unquestioningly on the path of a spiritual hand-me-down, devoid of personal appreciation or meaning. Living in a manner which reflects my love, faith and beliefs is the greatest gift of God and it should speak louder than superficial words mumbled in church just before I go out and vilify my neighbour. Trapped and in Anguish Each human being is unique, unlike any other. Why should we be cloned in a religious mass of stultifying conformity? A group of people offers only support, mutual friendship and recognition of our feelings. They should not dictate our spirituality. Each of us is responsible for our own souls, making our dealings with our God an intensely personal matter. If you feel trapped and anguished by your faith, more comfortable with hatred than love, instead if peace, tranquility and a sense of purpose, you may be worshipping the wrong god, reading from the wrong book or associating with the wrong people who would seek to control your soul through threats and hell fire than with love and peace. It could be time to examine what your holy book is saying and ask precisely what relevance it has to you as a child of the 21st century - for your life, aspirations and expectations. Whether men who practise sexism and racism, wage war and promote constant conflicts, men without love who sanction murder in God’s name, the ones who would easily kill you without mercy to impose their beliefs and maintain their power, are really the best mediators between you and your God. It is also worth asking whether the concentration on the afterlife is not an excuse to to evade our real responsibilities to each other here on earth. Obviously, we don’t have to strive for love, understanding and togetherness now because should we kill, maim and pillage, a vengeful God, who is on our side, is waiting to forgive us when we die! “The Church is put into the world not to live on past history but to make history,” said Graham Kendrick, the hymn writer. I couldn’t agree more. But what new history is being made by an obsession with past prophets, past books and past values which increasingly disregard our own achievements, which negate our vibrant and diverse present, which puts religion above us and denies us our unique future? Wedding Superstitions

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By Lesley-Ann Graham When it comes to weddings, everything is superstitious. There was a strong belief that weddings make the couple particularly vulnerable to evil spirits and bad luck, hence the many superstitions surrounding the event. Some are totally out of this world, while others may just have been created to keep the peace and order and prevent some naughty grooms from delaying the preparations. Whichever the case, here are some superstitions: * It is considered bad luck for the bride to wear the wedding dress before the big day so much so that brides fit their gown in pieces to this day, never as a whole, and always with incomplete accessories. * It is considered bad luck for the groom to see the bride in her wedding gown before she walks down the aisle. Doing so will result in an unhappy or tragic end to the marriage. * If candles are lit on your wedding day and they sputter out, it means that there’s an evil spirit nearby. * It is considered a very bad omen for the bridal party to come across a funeral hearse. * If the groom drops the wedding band, the marriage is doomed. * Pearls are not jewelry that a bride should wear because it means her marriage will be full of tears and sorrow. * Throwing rice or confetti increases the couples good luck and fertility. * Dress the bridesmaids in gowns similar to the bride to confuse evil spirits and keep the unwanted suitors from interrupting the bride and groom. You may or may not agree with these superstitions but they’re good to know all the same. Good luck and blessings on your wedding! They Won’t Let Me Babysit! How To Break The Child / Parent Deadlock

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By Richard C Myers OK kids, lets start with you. You want to babysit. You want it more than anything and your parents just wont let you. It seems so unfair, right? They dont get that you can be mature and responsible. Theyre treating you like a baby and youve had enough! Hey Mom and Dad its a scary time, isnt it? You little baby is getting so grown-up in some ways. But in many other areas they still have a loooong way to go! They dont seem to get what a responsible job babysitting is and youre frightened for them. What if they hit a situation they cant deal with? Theres no way youre going to put them in that positionyet. Time Out! Everyone has to give and take here so that a solution may be reached. Lets look at this from both sides. Child / Teen If you want your parents to agree to what youre asking for you have to know their needs first. Why are they saying no did you ever ask them without throwing a fit? The chances are that they are worried for you. They understand how much responsibility a babysitter takes on. Are you ready for that responsibility? Really? OK - How would you deal with the following babysitting situations? A child wont stop crying A child gets sick and needs a bath and their soiled bed changing A child cuts himself and needs sutures. His siblings are asleep upstairs A child starts to choke on a peanut See this is why your parents worry. If youre not able to deal with all of thoseand more, then youre not ready. So What Can I Do To Learn These Things Show your parents that you understand the job by wanting to learn how to do it properly. There are DVD courses available ask them to buy you one for Christmas or a birthday. In the meantime You wont get anywhere without communicating properly. Slamming doors is not the way to impress them that youre mature enough to babysit. You know those chores they keep asking you to do? Do them demonstrate that you can be disciplined and work. And then do them without being asked that shows initiative. It might be dull but so is a lot of work do you want this or not? Parents Make time to discuss why you are saying no. It wont stop your child wanting to babysit it just makes them crazy. If they know why youre refusing, it gives them a chance to do something about it. Kids can reason if they know what theyre up against. Communication is key. Kids do want to talk to you, despite the way they behave. Take the time to get to know your kids and let them know you relationships are two-way. Support them if they really want this, help them to learn what they need to know.
